  3. All of these recipes look so good. I am still waiting for Bittman’s book to arrive so that I can join the party properly. I should have it by next week and will add my take to the mix. In the meantime I’ve been loving the various of interpretations you all come up with.

  8. I made 5 salsas using Bittman’s recipes as a jumping-off point. Made the pico de gallo to the letter, made a cooked peach-mango chutney instead of peach salsa, a green apple-cucumber-avocado salsa, a cooked tomatillo and black bean salsa, and a corn and black bean salsa. My favorite was the tomatillo and black bean salsa, which brought me back to the days of working at a vegetarian restaurant that has the best tomatillo salsa.
